Cozy Maternity Photos at Home

One of the greatest pleasures of being a portrait photographer is documenting the passage of time and the growth of families. I’ve been working with Matt and Jesa for over five years now, photographing their family every November/December as they grow from a married couple to dog parents to proud parents of two beautiful twin boys. We often work together for holiday photos, but as 2024 brought the gift of their two sons, we’ve luckily been seeing a lot more of each other.

Jesa messaged me for maternity photos in late May, a few weeks before her babies were due to be born. After some discussion about where would be best for photos, we easily settled on just taking them at home! Their house is a pivotal part of the story of their family, and they were in the process of converting their guest room into a nursery.

Their house is near a greenway, which allowed us to take photos with the greenery of late Spring in North Carolina. These ended up being some of my favorite photos from the session. The new growth of Spring made for a beautiful visual metaphor for the growth of their family.
